Andres Ciccone, an Italo-Venezuelan artist born in 1991, explores themes such as freedom, migration, and chaos in his work. His art reflects mass displacement and the passage of time, using various materials loaded with conceptual, political, subversive, and visual meanings. Ciccone describes his creative process as "gathering a variety of information, transforming it into material, creating sketches to then analyze them in parts and infuse them with the essence of painting." His works not only provide a retrospective view but also employ technological languages that encourage holistic thinking with a forward-looking vision.
The artist's migratory experience offers an interdisciplinary perspective where concepts such as globalization, political emancipation, and memory are addressed. Therefore, his work emphasizes psychological perspectives on memory, time, space, and origin. The materials used reflect transformation, distance, and fragility, creating complex works that challenge the meanings traditionally associated with objects in the modern world.
In his work titled "Allegory," Ciccone crafts a composition with vanishing points that offer a perspective on elements representing family and the inherent distance of exile. Through primary colors reminiscent of toys, he reflects on his childhood, home, and destiny. It is a disruptive stance that seeks to illuminate and transform the adversities inherent in the expatriate condition.
Thus, Ciccone's work intertwines his personal narrative with a philosophical inquiry, exploring the complexities of migration and identity while seeking to re-signify the human experience through a living flow, which is artistic expression.
