Jade Cassidy

Jade Cassidy explores themes of renewal and resilience through her paintings and sculptures, drawing inspiration from the King Protea, South Africa’s national flower. Symbolizing destruction and rebirth, the flower’s ability to regenerate after wildfires serves as a powerful metaphor in her work. Cassidy’s oil paintings, rendered in deep reds, browns, and blacks, use chiaroscuro techniques reminiscent of Caravaggio to create dramatic, transformative scenes. Her sculptures, crafted from ceramic and interwoven with leather, balance fragility and strength, evoking tension and release. Cape Phoenix – a resurrection story invites reflection on cycles of loss and renewal, both personal and universal.
