Christ Baptista

Christ Baptista works in oil on linen, navigating the space between figuration and abstraction. His compositions capture ambiguous human and non-human forms in moments of transformation, evoking a sense of tension and fluidity. Figures, limbs, and objects appear ephemeral, dissolving like apparitions in water. Rooted in digitally collaged and distorted found images, Baptista’s works feel both familiar and estranged. Inspired by film and ancient relics, he embraces intentional absences, allowing the viewer to reconstruct the unseen. His approach prioritizes structure over narrative, inviting contemplation of movement, memory, and the passage of time.
